CAUTIONS:
-
Free Saline Inclusion: This product includes free saline to mix with the toxin. However, there is a possibility that the saline package may be missing, broken, or damaged during shipping. Unfortunately, we cannot offer compensation through store credit or reshipment. Saline is widely available at pharmacies, and you can purchase it at your local pharmacy or online.
-
Appearance of Empty Bottle: At first glance, the bottle may appear empty; however, we assure you that it is not. Botulinum toxins are mostly delivered in powdered form (except for products like Innotox). The powder is very fine and might be mistaken for an empty bottle. We guarantee that the correct amount is provided. You will need to dilute the toxin with saline before use.
-
Melted Ice During Shipping: When ordering botulinum toxins, please be aware that during the summer season, despite proper packaging, products may arrive warm or even hot. Based on our experience and test results, the product's effectiveness may reduce by up to 10%. Please consider this information carefully before proceeding with your purchase.
-
Storing Diluted Product: Once opened and mixed, botulinum toxin products are recommended to be used within 24 hours, according to the product description. However, based on medical advice, it is still best to use the units as soon as possible. If you have remaining toxin after the initial use, it may be stored and used for up to one month, but its effectiveness may decrease by up to 10%. Always store diluted toxins in the refrigerator.
DEHANTOX 200U Dilution Instructions
Mixing toxin is a quick and easy process. In just a few steps, your powdered toxin will be reconstituted and ready to use. Please note that DEHANTOX vials will appear empty. There is a trace amount of botulinum toxin in the vial.
Supplies needed:
- Botulinum toxin
- 1 ml syringes with 20 gauge needles (for drawing up) and 30G 0.5-inch needles (for injecting). Alternatively, insulin syringes with attached 31G needles can be used.
- 0.9% sodium chloride (preferably bacteriostatic/preserved)
- Alcohol pads
- Gauze
- Ice packs
- Topical anesthetic (optional)
- Marker/pencil (optional)
Injection Preparation:
1. Sanitize hands and put on medical gloves.
2. Remove DEHANTOX 200U from the packaging.
3. Remove the plastic cap (do not remove the metal ring).
4. Alcohol swab the top of the DEHANTOX 200U vial.
5. Draw up 4.0 ml of room-temperature sterile saline into the syringe. If you are using a short needle length, turn the saline container upside down to allow the saline to be drawn down into the syringe. Some saline may leak from the sides of the plastic container. Saline can be drawn into two 1.0 ml syringes or a larger syringe that holds the entire 4.0 ml of sterile saline. It doesn’t matter what syringe size is used, as long as 4.0 ml of sterile saline is used to dilute.
6. Poke the needle into the center of the DEHANTOX 200U vial. Slowly press down on the syringe plunger. Repeat if using multiple syringes, or use the same syringe to dilute with a total of 4.0 ml of sterile saline.
7. Do not use the same needles to perform DEHANTOX treatment as they become dull. Dispose of needles in a sharps container.
8. Gently swirl the DEHANTOX 200U vial to mix. Do not shake.
9. Allow prepared DEHANTOX to rest for 5 minutes while you prepare for treatment.
10. Use 30 or 31G 0.5-inch needle for injection.
Pre-Procedure Recommendations:
- Avoid supplements and medications known to increase bruising.
- Application of an ice pack before and after injection.
Step 1: Prepare Skin for the Procedure
1. Clean the treatment area and disinfect with alcohol or another topical antibacterial solution (chlorhexidine).
Step 2: Procedure Technique
1. Do makeup removal and skin cleansing.
2. Mark injection sites if needed.
3. Tailor injections to individual patient needs.
4. Perform Corrugator supercilii injection: Deep medially, superficially laterally.
5. Conduct Procerus injection: Superficially between eyebrows.
6. Administer Frontalis injection: Intramuscular or superficial.
7. Deliver Orbicularis oculi injection: Superficial, lateral to orbital rim.
Step 3: Post-Injection Care
1. Potential complications include bruising, ptosis, and asymmetry.
2. Techniques to reduce bruising include avoiding superficial blood vessels and applying pressure and ice post-injection.
3. Post-procedure precautions include avoiding sleeping face down, bending over, and vigorous exercise.
4. Patients should remain vertical for up to 3 hours post-injection.
This dilution will result in 5U per 0.1ml
Tip: The syringe size doesn’t change dilution. When using a 0.5 ml or 1.0 ml syringe size, the units are still 5U per 0.1 ml. The syringe size holds a different volume of DEHANTOX, but it doesn’t change the resulting dilution.
Storage and Reconstitution:
Botulinum toxin is stored in powder form and must be refrigerated.
Reconstitute with preservative-free saline or bacteriostatic/preserved saline.
Refrigerate or refreeze reconstituted vial for at least 4 weeks without significant risk.
Dilution protocols vary; ensure desired concentration in units/mL.
